East End Raptors

Feb 27, 2018

We decided to cruise the concession roads east of Caselman in search of Snowy Owls.  There were not many to be seen, although we finally spotted one sitting in a field very far away.

Compensation were several Rough-legged Hawks, including a pair and a couple of Red-tailed Hawks.  We also got great views of a male Merlin.

There were many hundreds of Snow Buntings, shy as usual.  There were also a few Horned Larks, including this young bird.

Other birds of note were a Common Raven and a pair of European Starlings.
