We got an Ottawa RBA that the gyr was far out on the ice of the Ottawa River. We headed out well dressed for the -21C cold. We decided to forgo Britannia Point and try from the Parkway instead. We parked on New Orchard Ave and hiked down the path under the road to the shore. We were just in time. The Gyrfalcon was on the ice eating a Mallard, but it soon took off.
It did return, but left for the Quebec side after about 15 minutes. The ravens quickly came by to finish off the scraps.
We were glad to head back to the warmth.

Gyrfalcon
January 27, 2019
This Gyrfalcon has been reported several times feeding on Mallards on the ice off Britannia Point. We saw it once in a snowstorm, then today flying in front of the apartment buildings. It was sooo far away, and the camera focused on the building.
