Early Fall at the Lake

 September 19-22, 2024

We did a few lake tours, noting that the loons are starting to develop their winter plumage.  We thought the eagles had left, but eventually we did se an adult.  We hiked a trail at the top of the big hill on Ch du lac à l'Arche.  We thought it might parallel the lake, but found that it went west towards Darby Lake.

Glossy Ibis at Carleton Place Storm Pond

 September 15, 2024

This rarity was reported the day before, so we headed out hoping it was still there.  It was!   The unusual goose and Green Heron were unexpected bonus birds.

Snake River and Ross Road

 September 10, 2024

Our main activity was a paddle on the Snake River as it exits Lake Doré.  After that, we went to nearby Ross Road where the Common Gallinules put on a good show.  And on the Snake River Line, we saw two Northern Harriers.
