We planned a 3-day get away staying at a B&B in Gananoque. Our first quest was the Loggerhead Shrike at Nugent Roasd on the Napanee Plain. We went across country via Sharbot Lake. We were successful with the shrike and also had nice views of Eastern Meadowlarks. Or next stop was the ponds opposite Camden Lake on Moscow Road for ducks. Our last stop before heading to Gananoque was the Camden Lake Provincial Wildlife Area.
The next day we went to Prince Edward County. We took the ferry at Adolphustown and went straight to Kaiser Crossroads where there were lots of ducks in the flooded fields. Next stop was the south end of Kaiser for Buffleheads. From there we went to the Point via Babylon Rd where we saw our first Eastern Towhee. At the point there were many Red-breasted Mergansers, more towhees, a Brown Thrasher and others. We tried Point Petre, but the waves were crashing preventing us from seeing the desired sea ducks.
On our last day, we decided to explore the Lost Bay Nature Reserve. On the way there, we had good luck at a wetland for Yellowlegs. The reserve was fairly quiet, but we had a nice hike. A Red-shouldered Hawk put on a good show for us.
