We decided to cruise the concession roads east of Caselman
in search of Snowy Owls. There were not
many to be seen, although we finally spotted one sitting in a field very far
away.
Compensation were several Rough-legged Hawks,
including a pair and a couple of Red-tailed Hawks. We also got great views of a male Merlin.
There were many hundreds of Snow Buntings, shy as
usual. There were also a few Horned
Larks, including this young bird.
Other birds of note were a Common Raven and a pair of
European Starlings.
