We incorrectly thought that Sam had a game on Canada Day, so headed down from the cottage. With plenty of time, we stopped at Venosta to check the trail, heading towards town for a change. We only saw common species, but a hovering American Kestrel was nice. But by the time it landed a long way off, we could only manage a blurry photo. It was interesting to see how much yellow there is on a juvenile Eastern Phoebe. Who knew that Red-eyed Vireos had such a large gape?
