We took a pause in our Christmas preparations to make a quick trip to Stittsville to look for a reported Northern Pintail. We were very fortunate to see two of them and a Common Merganser. While we were observing them, the pintails flew off with a bunch of Mallards. Had we arrived 5 minutes later, we would have missed them.
We followed up that with a tour of the rural roads of Richmond, where we spotted two Snowy Owls. Both owls were being harassed by photographers crossing the private fields to get better photos.
