Panmure Road to Pakenham Adventure

 May 1, 2022

A report of several Upland Sandpipers on Panmure Road at Dwyer Hill got us off at 8 am.  We could not see anything from the car, so we parked and got out.

We could hear lots of meadowlark song, so we chased one down.

Then we turned our attention to the Upland Sandpipers, and we soon found two walking in the field!

An Eastern Meadowlark flew across the road, and we followed a short way down Dwyer Hill to get more shots.

We continued along Panmure Road hoping to see bluebirds, and we did along with lots of Savannah Sparrows.

A Field Sparrow was a nice bonus.  Barbara spotted a distant Northern Flicker.

We heard a Brown Thrasher while driving along, but had trouble tracking it down.  But suddenly there were 4 of them.  Problem solved.

We carried on to Blakeney and stopped for a hike at the falls.

We could hear a Pine Warbler up in the trees, but it refused to come lower.  A pair of Hairy Woodpeckers was observed mating!

We decided to head to Pakenham and a stop at Scoops.  We enjoyed our treats at the falls park.

On the way back, we got an Eastern Phoebe and an American Kestrel, both fairly distant.

We took Dwyer Hill Road to Panmure, but the earlier successes were not repeated.  No matter, we had had a great day!
