East End Birding

 February 5, 2024

Barbara had an eye appointment in far Orleans in the morning, so we decided to pack a lunch and try for the Eurasian Tree Sparrow at 3267 Bouvier Road in Bourget.

On the way, we passed a good feeder on Wall Road that had a bunch of Snow Buntings at it.  They scattered, but the sentinel remained in place. A few other common birds were spotted from the car.

We got to the address on Bouvier Road, but Barbara did not want to risk the icy driveway to get to the back of the house.  But Bill went in, signed the register, and checked out the very active feeders behind the house.  Lots of feeder visitors, but no sign of the Eurasian Tree Sparrow.

When Bill returned from the back yard, he was not overly surprised to see Ken drive up.  He was on the lookout for the same rare bird.

We decided to head out past Casselman to check the concession roads, while Ken had other plans. The concessions were almost bereft of birds, but finally we spotted a couple of Horned Larks as we were ready to go home.

It was a lovely sunny day to be out in the country.
