Alison Bentley has been reporting a Tufted Titmouse at her feeders at Rainbow Lake in Lanark County for some time. We decided to try for it on this sunny but cold day. It's 1h 20 min from our home via Hwy 7. The eBird marker was not right at her house, so we had to stop at a neighbour's place to get precise directions. Alison was home and very welcoming. We observed her wonderful feeders outside, then accepted her invitation to come inside and have our lunch while watching the feeders out of her picture window. The Tufted Titmouse did not disappoint. It came to a feeder several times, but would only stay for less than a second each time. A fast focusing camera did the job. A bonus for us, was a Red-bellied Woodpecker that patrolled the trees nearby, although it did not come in to a feeder.
We went home via Hanna Road where we saw two White-tailed Deer and a family of Trumpeter Swans.
