It was just the two of us taking our newly-repaired canoe back up ot the lake. So, we detoured at Lac Ste Marie to check a couple of wetlands.
We decided to go up past Peggy's cottage on Heney Lake and cross back over the river at Gracefield. We managed to get a bit lost for a while, but got a bonus Bobolink in one of the farm fields.
The next morning, Barbara spotted an unusual duck on our dock. We had never seen a Blue-winged Teal before at our lake. There was also a Common Merganser sharing the dock space.
We were anxious to try out the canoe, and got a Great Blue Heron and Common Loon on our paddle.
Later we bbq'd at steak; had to wear a bug jacket because of the flies.
