Tuesday May 19, 7:30am:
We met at Andrew Haydon Park East Parking Lot, off Carling Ave., West of Bayshore, East of Acres Road. Today there was Rick, Russell, Jane, Helena, Ian, Heather and me plus Tony.
We saw three Bonaparte Gulls on the river, including a full adult. There were four species of swallow and a Common Tern. We headed off to the ponds at Burnside Pit where we saw a Kildeer and a male Gadwall.
From there we went to The Richmond Lagoons, where it was quiet except for the Tree Swallows nesting in the martin house. We explored some of the back roads around Munster where we saw Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and a Common Yellowthroat on Conoly Road. Tony played the magic machine and a Great-crested Flycatcher, Common Yellowthroat, Nashville Warbler, Blackburnian Warbler and Yellow Warblers came in to investigate. Further along Conoly, we saw Bobolinks and a Baltimore Oriole. On Munster Road, we saw a pair of Eastern Kingbirds, an Eastern Bluebird, a pair of Brown-headed Cowbirds and an American Bittern on the side of the road. On Franktown Road we saw a Magnolia Warber and a couple of Upland Sandpipers. On the way back we saw a Wild Turkey displaying.
