We were looking after Sam & David on Wednesday, as it was their March Break. We decided to take them out to see the Snowy Owls that we had shown to Nancy.
Grandpa spotted one at the top of a distant utility pole seen from Rushmore. We scoped it and Sam said "it's a female".
Grandpa spotted it fly off the pole and come our way. Fortunately, it crossed the road and landed on a closer pole.
We saw some Horned Larks and Snow Buntings, but could not get photos as cars kept going by to scare them. So we headed down Brownlee and Aikins, where Barbara spotted another female Snowy much closer.
Then we went back to Rushmore to get photos of the larks and buntings.
Then we went to Tim Horton's for lunch.
After lunch we swung by the dump to pad the boys' lists. We got a Red-tailed Hawk, a few Rock Pigeons, and a tree full of Starlings. We agreed beforehand no to count the hundreds of crows.
