Eardley-Masham and Steele Line

 January 15, 2024

We still have Covid.  But now that we are feeling better, we decided to head out to the Quebec side for some afternoon birding and a drive in the country.  We stopped at Thérrien and saw nothing except the gorgeous scenery.  We proceeded to Eardley Masham Road and were dismayed that the house with the good feeder had taken it down.  We scanned the cliffs again; nothing.  So, we drove the road all the way and back again, only seeing a single crow!  We turned onto Bradley, then Steele Line, stopping several times to scan the cliffs; nothing. We turned on Ch. Lac des Loups towards Hwy 148 and said, as a joke, that we might see a shrike.  OMG, right after one flew across and perched.  It flew to the next line twice like a Kestrel, but finally settled down so we could get photos.

This saved what had been a birdless day.  Then, on the same road, we saw a large flock of Wild Turkeys.
