The tanager was seen by many in the morning, so we decided to give it a try after lunch. We opted not to wear our grippers, which was a mistake. The trail was treacherous, but we were ok. There were about 6 of us at the stakeout when Aaron arrived to service the feeders. We waited 1.5 h, but our target was done for the day. Barbara went for a short walk and saw 3 Red-winged Blackbirds fly over and land in a distant tree. These are unusual winter visitors.
