June 25, 2021
There have been a number of encouraging reports lately of Carolina Wrens at Frank Ryan Park. So we decided to head out after physio.
Another birder lady was on the site as we arrived. We soon saw the Chestnut-sided Warbler juvenile and adult.
American Redstarts were numerous. We even saw a nestling that had just fledged.
We wandered down to the bridges looking for the Carolina Wrens. We played the song sparingly. The other birder left, and we ambled back to the upper path. Suddenly we heard the very loud unmistakable teakettle song of the wren, but we could not see it. Then we went back down towards the bridges and played the song. In it came. Success!
SECOND VISIT
June 25, 2021 afternoon
Barbara thought that Jane might be interested to see the wrens, and she was right! So we headed back a 4 pm and met Jane there.
This time we did not see the Chestnut-sided Warblers, but we got stunning views of the Carolina Wren and Gray Catbirds, with lots of bonus American Redstarts thrown in.
