While we were at the lake, Ken emailed to say that the young Merlins had fledged but were perched nearby. So at our first opportunity, we headed over to the former Rockliffe Air Base to check on them. Luckily we were able to spot both adults and three youngsters in the dead trees close to the nest site. At least one of them was dining on a captured prey bird.
Back home, we had a visit from a recently-fledged Northern Cardinal.
