Red Phalarope on the Ottawa River

 November 6, 2021

When Bill came out the front door in the morning he heard a Carolina Wren singing in our oak tree.  He grabbed his camera, but could not locate it.  He heard it later further up the street, but never laid eyes on it.

We received a RBA at lunch time that a Red Phalarope was on the river, viewable from Deschenes lookout.  We headed right over and several other birders were there, including our friends, Ken and Colin. With a little help, we got on the bird, but my it was distant.

We could also see a Red-necked Grebe and Red-throated Loon much closer to Britannia Point, so we decided to head over there for a closer look.  The grebe came in fairly close, but the loon stayed out.

Barbara hiked around to get photos of the other ducks - Buffleheads, Lesser Scaups, Common Goldeneyes, Hooded Mergansers and American Black Duck.
