Frank Ryan and Elmhurst Parks

On the way to the drug store, we stopped in at Frank Ryan Park.  There was no sign of the Barred Owl or Carolina Wrens, but we did get a very cooperative Pileated Woodpecker.

Well, it only made sense to check out Elmhurst Park too, and to our delight, the Barred Owl was home on it's roost.

After that, we went to the drug store and then went to nearby Britannia Yacht Club to look for a White-winged Scoter that had been reported.  We did see it with our scope at a very long distance.  The wind was fierce, and it was really too far for a photograph. Of course, we tried anyway.
