Sparrows and Open Country with Tony Beck

This was my third visit to this productive area behind the airport in a week.  This time we concentrated almost exclusively on the sparrows.  We also ventured across the other side of Bowesville road, then drove to Mer Bleue to find Swamp and Lincoln's sparrows.

Peter and I arrived ahead of the others.  We saw the Brown Thrasher and heard several other birds while waiting.  We were joined by Heather, Tony, Nina, Alex, Helena and several others including a young photographer names Hakhan.

This walk in the Bowseville Road area behind the airport is always popular.  Birders are always trying to see the differences between all the sparrows, and we usually get other grassland specialties too.

Long Weekend Birding at Cedar Lake

May 18-21, 2012

The warblers were in full song when we arrived on Friday.  Most of them were Northern Waterthrush, but we also saw Northern Parula and Yellow-rumped Warblers.  Besides birding around the cottage, we also went out to Ch. St Jacques and Ch. Gallipeau to check our usual spots.
