Rivière Désert Canoeing

May 5, 2012

Rivière Désert is north on Maniwaki and just south of Parc LaVérendrye, so it's a bit of a stretch for Ottawa area birding.

Mike, Brett & I paddled while Barbara ran shuttle.  As there are many rapids and swift water, there is mostly no chance to photograph while paddling.  Barbara had better luck as she was land based.  Driving back to the cottage, by the sand pit, she observed a very cooperative Broad-winged Hawk.

Bird List (probably not complete)

  1. Eastern Bluebird
  2. Northern Flicker
  3. Common Loon

  7. Yellow-rumped Warbler
  8. Chipping Sparrow
  9. Eastern Phoebe
  10. Bufflehead
  11. Broad-winged Hawk
