Bill loaded our bikes on the rack while Barbara spied a robin's nest up the hill.
We planned to bike from Messines to Lac Laverdure on the nicely paved path. The distance is short, but Bill was doing it for therapy for a sore hip joint. Besides, it gave us more time for birding. While Bill was unloading the bikes in Messines, Barbara got an Eastern wood Pewee.
Half way along our route, there is a major wetland that is very attractive for birds. We pulled up when we saw a young Hooded Merganser swimming in the pond.
We saw Bull Frogs, warblers, a Swamp Sparrow and lots of Common Grackles, including a baby and even a Meadow Vole.
There was a connecting path to the Algonquin Golf Course where we saw a Chipping Sparrow, a friendly hare and more warblers.
On the return trip, Bill spotted a Veery and a White-throated Sparrow.
After a cooling swim (more therapy), we went for a paddle on our lake. We spotted a Herring Gull trying to deal with a dead pike.
