Andrew Haydon Park and Points West with JC Birding

 November 4, 2020

We were a large group for this outing - Barbara & Bill, Sami, Connie, Ken, Margaret McCagg and Jane.  We met at Andrew Haydon Park and birded there for at least two hours.  The birding was excellent  including a Long-tailed Duck, White-winged Scotesr, a pair of American Wigeons and Red-breasted Mergansers.  We had 18 species at this stop.

We checked out Dick Bell and Grandview, but got nothing of note.

Then on to Shirley's Bay where we saw a buck among the many deer.

A pair of Bald Eagles were a highlight.

At Hilda we saw Fox Sparrows, American Tree Sparrows, Red-winged Blackbirds, Hairy Woodpeckers, a White-throated Sparrow and lots of Blue Jays.

Next, Jane led us to Berry Side Road where here were hundreds of Common Redpolls and a few Hoary Redpolls.  We spent a lot of time there!

Next we went to Constance Creek on Thomas Dolan, but there was not much.  Lots more action at nearby Dunrobin Lake with Ring-necked Ducks and Hooded Mergansers among other waterfowl.

Our last stop was Vance's Sideroad where there wasn't much, but on the way Barbara spotted a beautiful dark Red-tailed Hawk.
