Great Backyard Bird Count 2 - Aylmer and the Steele Line Golden Eagles

 February 13, 2021

We went to the foot of Vanier Road in Aylmer to check the river and feeder.  There was a tree full of Cedar Waxwings.

We were keeping a running eBird checklist.

Then it was off to the rural fields and a stop at Churchill Picnic site on the Eardley Masham Road.

We drove end to end on Ch. Eardley-Masham without seeing any finches.  So, we carried on to the Steele Line and made several stops and a brief hike.

We were getting discouraged but everything changed when we saw a car stopped.  The fellow, from the COO club, had 2 Golden Eagles in the scope. WOW!

He also told us about a Rusty Blackbird on Ch. Stanley.  So we stopped by on the way home, but did not see it.  However, there was a field of about 50 Wild Turkeys.
