There was a report of a possible Northern Shrike at the Richmond Conservation Area, so we decided to give it a try. The ponds were still mostly dry, so there were no waterfowl. There was no sign of the shrike and it was pretty quiet. Barbara spotted a small flock of Cedar Waxwings and Bill photographed an unusual-looking bird that turned out to be a Fox Sparrow. We also saw a few Yellow-rumped Warblers.
We decided to follow the path leading off the south-west corner of the dike, which led to a subdivision. We only saw a couple of furtive sparrows. We returned and decided to check out the dump on the way home. There were no hawks, but we saw a couple of Great-black-baked Gulls in the pit off Barnsdale.
