We decided to go to Holland Marsh on Old Hwy 17 near Kinburn where a Ross's Goose had been reported. But we saw only Canadas. The cold wind was wicked once again. But we did see the first of many American Kestrels that we would see this day.
We crossed back over the 417 and proceeded to Pakenam via Hanson Road.
We checked out a feeder in town just across the bridge.
We headed south on 29, then took Cedar Hill to Sugar Bush and drove to Fulton's. We thought to go in for lunch, but discovered that the restaurant part was closed. So we returned and went along Bellamy without seeing anything of interest. We had intended to make a loop, but the dearth of sightings convinced us to return the way we had come. It was time for a visit to Scoops.
Barbara suggested that we return by Panmure Road to look for bluebirds. So we crossed the 5-arch bridge and took the Blakeney 17 Road to Panmure. Bluebirds were not showing themselves, but many American Kestrels and Turkey Vultures were enjoying the wind gusts. We also saw a couple of Eastern Phoebes.
We checked on the raven nest at the CTC, but it appeared empty and there were no ravens in sight.
It was not a stellar day, but we did enjoy the many kestrels and the ice cream stop!
