After a Barrhaven shopping stop, we went to Viewbank Road, but there were no sparrows around. So we went to Twin Elm via the Dump and Cambrian Road. On the way, we spotted a FOS Belted Kingfisher!
On Cambrian, we saw an Osprey on the nest, where there was none last week.
The flooded fields held only gulls and Canada Geese. Notable, was a juvenile Herring Gull.
We then went to the Richmond CA to see if there was any water. Indeed there was. They had been bone dry most of last year. But there was only a biting cold wind, and no birds, save for a pair of Mallards.
We went home via Steeple Hill to see if the other Osprey nest was occupied. It wasn't. But we saw a mixed flock of grackles, redwings, starlings and MODOs under a front yard feeder.
