Mud Lake

 April 22, 2022

With improving weather, we headed over to Mud Lake after lunch.  There was nothing on the ridge, but our luck improved as we crossed the road onto the trail on the west side of the lake.  We got our second creeper in as many days and our first Yellow-rumped Warbler.  Then we saw the screech owl at a new location for us.  We heard but could not see Pine Warblers, but at the back end of the lake, near the bridge, we got both Yellow-rumps and a cooperative Pine Warbler.  The ravens also put on a good show.  Returning, we saw a Ruby-crowned Kinglet and we saw that the owl had not moved.  But what was surprising, was a Cooper's Hawk perched virtually over top of the little owl.  It was a good day!
