We did not want a long drive, so decided to look for the Carolina Wren at Frank Ryan or Elmhurst Parks.
We started at Frank Ryan and saw our first Eastern Phoebe and Yellow-bellied Sapsucker of the season.
We crossed the street to Elmhurst Park and continued our search. Near the east end of the park, we heard a wren call once for a second but we could not locate it. Then, we got distracted by Several Brown Creepers and Golden-crowned Kinglets, which were also our first of season observations.
Then, suddenly, our target Carolina Wren started singing quite close by. Success!
It was a very worthwhile outing. BTW, there was no sign of the resident Barred Owl.
Awww Brown Creepers also!!!
