Raptors at Tunney's Pasture

May 1, 2020

Jane had heard that the baby Great Horned Owls had returned to their nest area.  So we headed out to see for ourselves. The NCC had roped off the area.  We could see an adult and two fledglings, but only Barbara got a shot of mother and baby together. We could see her feeding it, but could not get decent photos since they were blocked by branches.

Since the Coats building is just a block away, we went to look for Peregrine Falcons.  What do you know.  There was one sitting on the east side.

We observed it for quite a while including through the scope. We thought is was bending over often to preen, but it looks from the photos that it was snacking on a prey.
