Visit to Moncerf and aborted loon count

June 22, 2020

We went to Maniwaki to order a battery for the boys' John Deere car.  We got it at Anatole Gagnon et Fils.  We took the road beside the business to check for birds, and soon found ourselves out of town on the road to Montcerf.  Why not?  We followed the road to the Eagle bridge, where we stopped to bird.

Bill saw a Brown Thrasher, but only got the photo of a pigeon!

We carried on to the next bridge over the Désert and saw a kingbird family on the nest.

We returned to the cottage, and decided to go on a loon count in spite of the unsettled weather.  We got as far as Deep Bay when the rain started and the waves grew.  We snapped a photo of the nesting loon and decided to abort the count and get back.

Later, the weather settled down and Barbara watched a loon cruise by close to our raft.  She took a video of it eating bugs!
