Cranes and Vireos

September 5-9, 2020

After not seeing Sandhill Cranes near Venosta for 2 years, it was a treat to see a couple fly over the highway a few days earlier.  Then on September 5, Bill spotted 3 in a field on the east side of the road.

Then on September 9, Barbara spotted 2 on the other side of the highway.

At the cottage, we saw birds up the hill from our parking area. They were mostly Philadelphia Vireos, but we also saw one Blue-headed Vireo.

We also saw a few warblers, including a young Black-throated Green.

And some other goodies.

Out the lake, we checked out the young eagles and loons.

There was a huge group of Common Mergansers on shore.
