Trail 10 to Shirley's Bay

 September 19, 2020

This trail has been good in the spring, but it was pretty quiet this fall.  We were dismayed to see that our favorite spot had been destroyed by the cutting of trees. We had Robins and Song Sparrow, of course, a Mouring Dove, a Phoebe, and a quick glimpse of a Blue-headed Vireo.

When we reached the river, things picked up with the appearance of a Sapsucker and a Bay-breasted Warbler.  Then a Northern Parula stopped by and fed for 10 minutes in the low trees in front of our faces, giving us stunning views. A family came by and we were pleased to show the little guy to them.

Starting back, we immediately heard the alarm call of a Gray Catbird.  In fact, there were two, but they were skulking in the dense foliage, feeding on wild grapes.
