David Bartlett Park Manotick

 September 21, 2020

While planning our day, Barbara spotted a Gray Squirrel with an unusual find.

We wanted to try a new area that had warbler potential, so we opted for David Bartlett Park at the north end of Long Island in Manotick.  The park is a popular dog walking destination.  There were quite a few warblers, al of them Yellow-rumped.

The parking is at the tip of the island, so river channels are on each side.  The canal is on the east channel, but the west channel is non navigable and more interesting for birds. The perched heron and Spotted Sandpiper were good finds.

We hiked all around the perimeter of the park, trying to avoid the dogs.  There were lots of nice views of the Rideau Canal.

Besides the many yellow-rumps, Barbara spotted a White-throated Sparrow.
