Ottawa River from Britannia West Towards Andrew Haydon Park

September 12, 2020

We met Mark Gawn yesterday, and he recommended this route.  It was a beautiful day.  We picked our way along the rocky shore. Phoebes were numerous.

A Great Egret was hiding in the reeds, then flew past.

It was quiet for a while, then we came to a tree with lots of vireos, mostly Philadelphia with the odd Red-eyed.

We saw warblers too - Blackburnian, Nashville, Parula and Yellow-rumped.

Of course, there were many Song Sparrows, but also a Swamp Sparrow.

Barbara spotted a Wood Duck.

And there were a few other common species to round out the day.

Great to be outdoors on such a fine day.
