Frank Kenny, Milton and Mer Bleue Bog Boardwalk

April 12, 2019

Lots of good reports were coming from Frank Kenny including a Pink-footed Goose.  So off we went.

An mild day with a biting cold wind greeted us on Frank Kenny.  We did not see the target birds, but a few thousand snow geese made up for it.  We birded for quite a while enjoying the spring spectacle. There were very few ducks, mostly Northern Pintails.

We went over to Milton via Perrault where we had a close encounter with a very dark Red-tailed Hawk.

The geese on Milton were much more distant and the water had receded somewhat since our last visit.  We did confirm the raven's nest on the silo near the corner of Smith.

Later, we decided to go to Mer Bleue for a change on the off chance that a Pine Warbler was still around.  There were many Dark-eyed Juncos and American Tree Sparrows near the parking lot, but no warbler.

We had a lovely walk around the boardwalk seeing some common birds.  Then we spotted a more rare visitor - a Northern Shrike, which put on a show for us.
