Viewbank Road

April 23, 2019

Colin and Martha recommended this road for breeding Vesper Sparrows, and they were right on.  But they weren't easy to photograph, and there were many other sparrows present, including an amorous pair of Song Sparrows.

Other song birds included robins, cowbirds, juncos, phoebes, a Northern Flicker and a Killdeer.

Passing through Barrhaven, Barbara got a shot of the nesting Common Ravens at the Ag Can building.

We came back via the dump. Barbara spotted a European Starling with nesting materiel.

Our last brief stop was at Burnside Pit, where we saw lots of Common Mergansers, Gadwalls, and a Pied-billed Grebe.
