Carolina Wren in Our Ravine

April 5, 2020

We had a mallard underneath our feeder today.  That's unusual.

John said the Carolina Wren might be found in the ravine, so we went and tried for it.  We were on the east side of the creek near the church when we heard the calls.  But we could not locate it, so we decided to cross over to the path up high behind the houses.  Looking down from above, we saw 2 Carolina Wrens and a bonus Golden-crowned Kinglet.

John came by with his dog and we had another long chat (respecting proper distance).  He was happily surprised to hear that we had seen 2 wrens.  Finally, along came a Hairy Woodpecker that we needed for our bingo card.
