Mud Lake

April 16, 2020

We went to Mud Lake to bird the roadway and open lawns, so as to ensure social distancing in a time of COVID-19.

The Wood Ducks are as pretty as ever.

On the grass, we saw a female Red-winged Blackbird that was not looking healthy.

We walked along the grass by the Scout trees down to the end without seeing anything significant.  So we went along the back of the fence to the other side of the filtration plant.  The area where we had seen the Winter Wren was flooded, so we turned the other way. Along the trees, we saw a few Golden-crowned Kinglets, and other common birds, including a flyover of our first Great Blue Heron.

Back at the car, we saw a cute little Raccoon at the side of the road.
