Trumpeter Swans at Bruce Pit

April 6, 2020

After observing the birds at our feeders, we walked over to the ravine again.  This time we saw a few Mallards, Song Sparrows and Northern Cardinals, but no wrens.  However, I thought I heard them on Canfield.

Barbara spotted some lovely pussy willows, and we actually returned later to get some.

On impulse, we decided to head over to Bruce Pit again, as our buddy John had posted Trumpeter Swans on eBird. On the hike over, we saw a few more common birds.

As soon as the ponds came in sight, we could see the two Trumpeter Swans.

We also noted some Ring-necked Ducks and other land birds, as well as an early Midland Painted Turtle.

After working at home for a couple of hours, we did go back to get those pussy willows.  We noticed some Coltsfoot in bloom.
