Exploring the Trails off Stapledon

April 17, 2020

The last time we passed by the gate, we noticed a trail heading straight north beside the houses heading to the tracks.  We decided to investigate this as a possible route across to the other side of the tracks.  Alas, it was not to be, as the other side is fenced all the way in either direction.  We did not see many birds either.

We retraced our steps, and took the regular path over to Graham Creek, then went north to the area we had observed from the tracks.  There was a Mallard in the creek.

At the Bruce Pit pond, we saw a Belted Kingfisher, a Great Blue Heron and a pair of Pied-billed Grebes.

We tried another well-worn path home, but it ended at the former Grady gate that was illegally closed many years ago.  So we had to go along the top to the Hobart gate.  On Cramer, we spied 2 Mourning Doves.
